GetYourGuide Offers Wheelchair Accessible Tours

I discovered GetYourGuide when I was looking for wheelchair accessible tours for my Meditteranean cruise with Celebrity. I have two of the cruise line's excursions covered (Istanbul and the Amalfi Coast), but I was interested in adding a few more in places they didn't have them.

I travel in a large (388 lb.) power wheelchair. I need a vehicle with a lift or a ramp to get around. As many of you know, it's not easy to find tours that have that. I was able to find a few in the places I was looking (Rome, Italy; Kuşadası, Turkey; Crete and Mykonos, Greece). The problem was the tours were all way out of my budget.

That's when I found GetYourGuide. They have an assortment of tours which are wheelchair accessible in each of those places. These have costs ranging from $30 to $1,000. You don't have to skip the tours just because you are in a wheelchair!

Now, there is good news and bad news here. I'm going to start with the good news: GetYourGuide is not a massive company that does tours. They partner with local tour companies in the places you want to go. People who know where they live. On most of the tours, they also allow you to cancel up to 24 hours before.

As for the bad news, you will have to look carefully at each cruise before booking. A search of "wheelchair accessible" tours brought up some that were not, but I did easily find the info when I looked at the tour. There is actually an area of full description that will say "Wheelchair Accessible" or "Not Suitable for Wheelchairs." I have mentioned it to the company and they are working on it.

GetYourGuide has offered me two complimentary tours in Rome and I purchased one for Turkey. I will definitely be posting all about my upcoming tours so stayed tuned to my August trip, with Instagram updates and blogs here to come. In the meantime, check what’s available at  GetYourGuide.
